Sarah Cotterall, the talented designer behind New Zealand jewellery brand Silk&Steel, is preparing to launch her latest edgy new assortment. Inspired by the abstract nature of flora Superluxe is an edgy-chic collection of luxurious necklaces, ear jackets and lace rings in rhodium-plated and gold-plated sterling silver statement pieces designed to be worn alone or layered to reflect unique, personal style.
“Superluxe is inspired by the abstract nature of flora- by the fine veins on leaves, raindrops on flower petals and the structure of fronds on trees and plants - its nature’s art”. Sarah Cotterall – Owner and Designer Silk&Steel
To accompany the launch of the collection, Sarah wanted to try something unique and enlisted the help of talented Californian Illustrator Hailey Toohey. Haileys’ beautiful illustrations capture the true spirit of Superluxe which she describes as “a statement collection worthy of an artist's impression”. Hailey’s experienced in working with both private and commercial clients including boutique design houses, global luxury
fashion brands (including Ralph Lauren), retail manufacturers, and corporate businesses alike.
“The art of illustration is making a huge come back; the craft is creeping back into popular culture, showing up more frequently in catalogues and magazines. I’ve always had a love affair with fashion illustration, but since the growth of photography and technology sketching has been back roomed as a vehicle for designer brainstorming sessions rather than for finished concepts. I love that our love affair with illustrations is on the rebound”. Sarah Cotterall – Owner and Designer Silk&Steel
Silk&Steel’s Superluxe collection will be available online www.silkandsteel.co.nz and in selected stockists nationwide from May 1 2016. Priced from $135.00.
